The Child of Chaos

Author: Glen Dahlgren

Genre: YA Fantasy

Galen is a dreamer, he always has a story to tell.  As a child this was endearing, now he is coming of age nobody is interested, and his tales are an unwelcome distraction from work.

The Longing pulls the many to the churches of Order but few enter the priesthood. For Myra, that pull takes her to the faith of Charity, but her twin brother Galen’s longing pulls him elsewhere, it pulls him to Chaos, just like his mother before him.

The story of the Child of Chaos has long been foretold, as he comes to undo Order and destroy the world. Is this Galen’s destiny, to unleash Chaos into the world? One thing’s for sure, his childhood friend turned bully is well on his way to turning the world on its head.

Can Galen’s imagination help prevent the destruction of the world, or will Chaos reign supreme?

From the very first word, this story grabbed me by the heart and carried me off into it’s beautiful world, as if the Longing called me to read this wonderful book, and it did not disappoint.  The story is full of wonderful characters that effortlessly carry us through this twisting tale of good and evil, and magic and mayhem.

This beautifully rich and well written novel is Glen Dahlgren’s debut in the literary world. However it’s not his first story, some of you may recognise his name from the computer games world where he has worked for several decades. That said, this novel is without doubt an epic that should easily find its place on your bookshelves next to J. R. R. Tolkien and George R. R. Martin.

This book may be aimed at young adults, but it will find a place in the hearts of fantasy lovers of all ages.

This is fantasy at its best, hands down the best book I’ve read this year!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this wonderful story in the comments. If you haven’t read this yet, what fantasies would you recommend?
